Dessert for breakfast: Why not?

Wake-Up and Date Protein Shake Recipe (2)

This is one of those protein shakes that proves you can have your cake and eat it too. After all, when you combine sweet dates with banana, almond milk, and creamy almond butter, it creates a mixture that’s so decadent you’ll swear it couldn’t possibly be healthy. This Wake-Up and Date Protein Shake is so delicious it tastes like a dessert for breakfast. And yet, it’s full of balanced nutrition and protein to help you start your day off right.

The best part about this protein shake is that it contains all natural ingredients. This is especially true if you follow our recommendation and pick up some high-quality protein powder (more on that in a moment…). When you fuel your body with clean-eating ingredients, you’ll notice a difference in the way you feel! You won’t have that stereotypical “crash” after consuming sweets, and you’ll have the energy you need to go strong all day long.

Use a Quality Protein Powder

There are a ton of protein powders out there, so you have a lot to choose from. You should always look at the ingredients list, and if you don’t like what you see, move on to the next one. If you haven’t found one you like or you’re looking to switch up your brands, we’d definitely recommend a protein powder like Terra Origin.

It’s easy to sneak artificial ingredients into powdered protein. After all, it’s hard to see it or smell it when you open the bottle! But you’ll notice it in the way your body reacts as you continue on with your day. I’ve especially noticed a difference when I’m drinking a shake like this Wake-Up and Date Protein Shake as a workout recovery drink.

The thing we like about clean-eating protein powders is that they’re made from healthy, grass-fed whey protein. You see, whey comes in a few different forms, but a good protein powder will have isolate and concentrate whey protein. That helps your muscles build strong, healthy muscle tissue.

You might need a dairy-free whey protein, in which case you’d have to look to another brand. What we like about this protein powder is that it comes from grass-fed dairy cows. That means you’re benefiting from the cow’s superior nutrition and really getting natural protein supplement.

It’s Like Dessert for Breakfast

The combination of the sweet dates and creamy banana really does wonders to create a shake that tastes like a dessert milkshake. It has the perfect texture but not a drop of artificial sweetener. How sweet is that?

You’ll also be surprised at how much flavor you can coax out of four little dates. You might be tempted to add a few extras to the blender. After all they’re the star of this Wake-Up and Date Protein Shake. But, trust us: Those four dried fruits will go far!

Between the delicious flavor, the high protein content, and the creamy consistency, this shake is perfect for a grab-and-go breakfast. Feel free to drink it as a post-workout recovery drink, too, or just grab one as a midday snack. It’ll help you perk right up at work and have the energy you need to finish your day on a positive note.
