Exploring the Ancient City is often dangerous, so make sure you're properly equipped when doing so. Figuring out what to do when you're there may be a bit overwhelming at first, but it can be worth it to explore the city.

How to Find the Ancient City

Ancient Cities are very rare to come by and will always be underground. Even though they are rare, some methods can help you find them. You're most likely to find an Ancient City at a Y-level of -52 or under a mountain.

It's important to mention whenever you find a Deep, Dark Biome. It's not always a sign that you're near an Ancient City.

A good way to help you find the Ancient City is by opening up the command page. Once you've done that, you'll want to type in "/locate: AncientCity," and you'll get nearby coordinates except for the Y level. As soon as you get the coordinates start digging down until you've reached - levels, and try not to fall to your death.

Redstone Room

The Ancient City has a hidden room that's commonly referred to as the "Redstone Room." It can be found underneath the wooden bridge next to the giant structure in the center.

You'll see two stairs leading to a wall when you're underneath the bridge. If you want, you can always destroy the two walls blocking your path or set off the Redstone by going to the left door and eating or making noise.

As soon as you're inside, there'll be key rooms. The first one to your right is meant to show players how Redstone can move through solid blocks and non-solid blocks.

If you go to your left and make a right, you'll see two more Redstone set-ups. The first one will be a lectern, and if you place a book and quill on the stand, it'll power up the light. Showing that the lectern can serve as a Redstone power source.

Behind the lectern is another Redstone source. With a target block, piston, Redstone block, and Redstone lamp. This is meant to showcase how target blocks can be used as a power source because the piston will hit the lamp and power it up whenever you shoot the target.

The last room across will be across from the room previously mentioned. You'll see a Redstone set-up showing how the doors opened when you enter it.

Ancient City Mob

The only mob that currently spawns in the Ancient City is the Warden. The Warden will spawn in whenever it's summoned by setting off a series of Sculk Shriekers.
